NSW PLANNING WHITE PAPER AND BUSHFIRE RISK MANAGEMENT

Mr DAVID SHOEBRIDGE: My question without notice is directed to the Minister for Police and Emergency Services. What steps has the Minister and his department taken to ensure that the NSW Rural Fire Service retains the ability to protect people and property from inappropriate development on fire-prone land during the white paper process, which proposes to give the ultimate say on these matters to the Director General of the Department of Planning and Infrastructure?

The Hon. MICHAEL GALLACHER: I indicate to the House that discussions are continuing in that regard.
