Greens MP David Shoebridge has released a ‘Greens Manifesto’ today calling for fundamental change in the system and a Corbyn style approach to politics.
To create a more equal and just society and to mitigate the worst of climate change we need to think big. This means nationalising the banks, ensuring housing, clean air and water is a human right, publicly owned renewable energy, a billionaires tax, a cap on CEO salaries.
Greens MP David Shoebridge said:
“Demanding fundamental change, driven by all four of the Greens pillars of social justice, grassroots politics, peace and ecological sustainability is not just right in principle, it’s smart politics.
“Mainstream politics no longer offers hope.
“Corporate profits are soaring, wages are falling and living standards are going backwards.
“Despite hard-fought campaigns, environmental destruction increases and climate change is ignored.
“Unless we’re prepared to truly confront the political system that places corporate profits above all else including people, the environment and climate this won’t change.
“Nationalising the banks, housing, clean air and water as a human right, publicly owned renewable energy, a billionaires tax, a cap on CEO salaries.
“All of these are ideas are in this Manifesto that offers a true alternative.
“The path of mainstream politics seeking only to make minor changes to a political system dominated by the market is a proven dead end.
“We need to offer hope our voters hope, we need to offer a true alternative.” Mr Shoebridge said.
