The Greens commit to supporting the extraordinary hard work of public sector workers across NSW, the teachers, nurses, rangers and emergency service workers who keep our state running and keep us safe. We will work with parties across the Parliament to gain the numbers to support these workers and vote down the government’s proposed 1.5% wage cap.
Greens MP David Shoebridge said:
“The Greens will always vote to defend the pay and conditions of the teachers, nurses, rangers and emergency service workers who keep our state running and keep us safe.
“For ten long years the Coalition has imposed a cumulative de-facto pay cut on public servants with a 2.5% cap on wage rises, and now they want slash this to just 1.5%.
“This is a slap in the face to the people we have turned to during this pandemic, to teach our kids, look after the sick, and kept us safe and supported.
“When this proposal comes to the floor of the Parliament every Greens MP in both houses will be standing with the state’s workers, and standing up to this ugly attack on their wages by the Treasurer,” Mr Shoebridge said.
